About Us

Oceana Sensor, a Virginia corporation founded in 1995, is the developer and manufacturer of Wireless e-Diagnostics® Systems.  Wireless e-Diagnostics® is an end to end Smart Wireless Sensing System the acquires sensor information with the ICHM® (Intelligent Component Health Monitor) and wirelessly transmits the data utilizing Bluetooth®  and 802.11 communications, to an SHM® (System Health Monitor) for data basing, data fusion and alarming.

The company has patented a significant amount of technology.  It has used this intellectual property advantage to establish a “first mover” role in the market and with important technology groups.  Ocean Sensor has also created “Wireless e-Diagnostics®”, or networked embedded smart sensors. This technology provides a large value added solution to industrial end users and OEMs in embedded diagnostic solutions for condition-based maintenance, asset management and other “smart” applications.  In addition, Oceana Sensor has established strategic alliances and customer relationships with the “who’s who” of the business world.  The Company has been ISO 9001-2000 certified since 2004 and maintains a significant presence on national sensor and wireless forums and with state and local business organizations.  In 2004 the company embarked on a single point wireless sensor solution.  As a result Oceana Sensor is announcing a revolutionary component called the Wireless Sensor Module (WSeM™).  The WSeM™ allows current customers and new markets such as building automation to easily create wireless sensor applications.  With that Oceana Sensor is releasing the ICHM® WVS-100 single point wireless vibration sensor, the ICHM® WTS-100 single point wireless thermocouple sensor, the ICHM® WSN-100 single point wireless sensing node with more wireless sensors to be released throughout the year.  The new wireless sensors transmit data utilizing WiFi (802.11b/g) and can be connected to any standard LAN Access point.

Oceana Sensor sells systems for a wide variety of applications including machinery health monitoring to all types of industries such as Industrial Manufacturing, Waste Water Treatment, Power Generation, Industrial Automation and several branches of the Department of Defense. The machinery health and measurement services market use our sensors and data collection tools to monitor mission-critical operations and assess when components need replacement or repair. Our products empower users to manage their businesses more effectively by making real-time decisions about their assets and equipment maintenance.  Oceana Sensor was incorporated in 1995 and located in Virginia Beach  Oceana Sensor is leveraging 40 years of experience in designing, producing and selling piezoelectric sensors to enter new market opportunities in large emerging End User and OEM monitoring and control applications.

 Markets:

Oceana Sensor has targeted ten (10) markets for end users in the U.S. as its’ focus for 2010 and beyond.  The markets are power generation, paper milling and conversion, pharmaceutical, oil and petroleum refining, waste water treatment, textile production, steel milling and conversion, plastic extrusion, mining and food processing.  According to the US Census Bureau the total number of businesses associated with these markets exceeds 50,000.  Total revenue based on actual revenues and the Department of Commerce – Bureau of Economic Analysis is $ 1.51 trillion.

Fisher-Rosemount, a division of Rockwell Automation has estimated that 9 to 30% of a US company’s costs of goods sold (COGS) is spent on all maintenance.  For the target markets where actual COGS were not available we assumed a conservative 50% COGS. Based on targeted market COGS of  $ 902.2 billion the range of expenditures on maintenance is from 81.2 billion to 270.7 billion.  The importance of this information is that there is a significant amount of direct cost that can be recaptured through improved maintenance practices.  While all those dollars are not available directly to OST the opportunity for its’ products to reduce these costs is an important value proposition.

Fortress™ and Fortress Secure Interface® is a software platform that protects dynamic data and data stored in databases.  It was developed under an Advanced Technology Program through the National Institute of Standards titled  e-Manufacturing Framework to improve Semiconductor Manufacturing Productivity”. This innovative approach had a high degree of technical risk, as the proposed framework needed to balance flexibility, complexity, scalability, adaptability, and interoperability in a competitive environment with low-margin for error. It represents a breakthrough solution for on-line data security with protection from internal and external attack. The results of the program provided Oceana Sensor with an end user software tool, middleware to support applications development and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic library.  Fortress™ is powerful combination of data security and tailored applications that can be delivered by Oceana Sensor via a licensing arrangement.  The company is currently seeking funding for this product line.
